Obituary for Donald B. Buchanan
BRIMFIELD – Donald B. Buchanan, 75, of Brimfield, passed away at 4:23 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Donald was born on October 24, 1937, in Golconda, IL, to Kestner and Addie (Reynolds) Buchanan. He married Mary H. Dafnes on December 18, 1978, in Brownsville, TX., She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Stan Buchanan of St. Louis and Brett Buchanan of Pheonix; three step-children, Jack (Joy) Dries of East Peoria, Beth (John) Meister of Farmington, and Tammy (Mike) Smith of Brimfield; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, LaVern (Kenneth) Wilson of Michigan, Bob (Sharon) Buchanan of Golconda, IL, Linda (Steve) Cummings of Golconda, IL, Kendall (Sharon) Buchanan of Golconda, IL, Sandra (Steve) Dailey of Marion, IL, Janet (Tom) Taylor of Golconda, IL, and Carl (Kathy) Buchanan of Golconda, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Buchanan; two brothers, Gene and Kenneth; and one step-daughter, Terry Dries. Donald worked as a purchaser at Caterpillar for 34 years, until his retirement in 1991. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at noon, Sunday, September 29, 2013, at their house. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
