Obituary for Vincent Dixon
PEORIA – Vincent R. Dixon, 91, of Peoria, passed away at 10:23 p.m. on October 31, 2012 at East Peoria Rosewood Care Center.
Vince was born on November 8, 1920 in Ansonia, CT to Joseph and Ellen (Fitzgerald) Dixon. He married Myrtle Hiller in 1940. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, Joseph Dixon of Oak Harbor, WA, Vincent Dixon Jr. of Houston, TX, Richard Dixon of West Virginia; two daughters, Diane King of Centerville, IA and Ellen Steffan of Peoria; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Vince served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a World War II veteran.
For 50 years, Vince constructed homes from the ground up in many states. His friends and colleagues would testify that he was the best concrete finisher.
Funeral services will be in Oak Hill, WV at High Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, West Virginia.
