Obituary for Catherine "Katie" E. Engelmann

PEORIA – Catherine E. “Katie” Engelmann, 95, of Peoria passed away at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Buehler Home. Catherine was born on October 7, 1918, in Glen Cove, NY, to Zigmund and Mary (Conway) Mizvesky. She married Patrick Mulcahy in 1940 in New York. She later married Fred Engelmann in 1953in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rosella and Margaret; and two brothers, John and Danny. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Fred) Klein of Glenview, IL, Mary (Charles) Barlev of Elk Grove Village, IL, and Marilynn (Robert) Stuart of Dunlap; five granddaughters, Meridith Barlev, Jennifer Klein, Meghan Baskerville, Patricia Mason, and Catherine “Kate” Stuart; two grandsons, Neil Barlev and Christopher Stuart; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Elan, and Kyle; and one sister, Mary Paulis of Dunmore, PA. Catherine attended Long Island Hospital College of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN for over 50 years in various hospitals, doctors’ offices, and at the O’Hare Airport, where she retired at the age of 75. She was a member of St. Pascal Church in Chicago for many years. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday March 29, 2014 at St. Catherine Laboure in Glenview, IL. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. before the Mass. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
