After her family was raised, she returned to school and completed her education in Nursing. Janet received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Illinois Central College, her Bachelor Degree from Bradley University, and her Master Degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She was a Critical Care Registered Nurse, teaching and working at Bradley University, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and Methodist Medical Center. She was a credit to her profession and will be sorely missed by not only her immediate family but also the many nurses that she taught in her career.
Janet was an excellent clinical nurse educator, she made each clinical opportunity one of challenge and enjoyment. She challenged nursing students to provide excellent patient care, and she communicated enjoyment and respect for the profession of nursing. She was an excellent colleague and resource for other nurses and faculty. The most fitting tribute to Janet was when one of her physicians said to her, “Mrs. Cusack, I’ve met many, many women in my career, but not that many ladies. You, my dear, are a lady.”
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Peoria Heights. Rev. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
Good-bye my little one.
