Obituary for Anna D. Coffey

PEORIA-Anna D. Coffey, 89 of Peoria, passed away at 6:31 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Manor Court Liberty Village. She was born on January 29, 1917 in Toluca, IL to Joseph and Antonia Capranica Agatucci. She was the loving wife of John Peter Coffey. They were married on December 28, 1940 at St. Patrick Church in Peoria. He died on June 20, 1999 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas J. Coffey, one daughter, Mary Jane Coffey, one grandson, Patrick Eberle and two sisters, Josephine Agatucci and Florence Agatucci. She is survived by two daughters, Becky (Ray) Eberle of Peoria and Patricia (Steve) Tomlin of Peoria; daughter-in-law, Mary Coffey of Marquette Heights; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Willis) Aitken of Peoria and Delores Smith of Peoria Heights. Anna and her husband, Jack, enjoyed pinochle with family and friends throughout all of their married life. She was a dedicated volunteer at both St. Patrick and St Martin de Porres Parishes, having worked on countless spaghetti dinners, dances, school picnics and as a teacher’s aid. She handed down to her children her talents for sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and cooking favorite Italian dishes. She was currently a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. She was a role model for family in her practices of daily spirituality. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Philomena Church with Rev. John-Therese F.J. presiding. Visitation will be two hours before the Mass at church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
