Obituary for Kathryn Oakford Miller

PEORIA-Kathryn “Kitty” Oakford Miller of Carrollton, TX and formerly of Peoria, died unexpectedly of a heart attack, Monday, August 17, 2009 at her home. Kitty was born on July 2, 1960, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Judith Little Oakford. She married Alan Miller on May 1, 1983. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Haley Miller of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are her parents, Judy and Art Oakford of Peoria; three sisters, Lynne (Steven) Anderson of Montgomery, IL, Susan (Mike) Champion of Peoria, IL and Betsy (David) Paul of Peoria, IL; nieces and nephews, Sarah (Mark) Zameda, Katie (Eric) Sharp, Abby Anderson, Amy and Andy Champion, Megan (Kelly) Knedler, Bryan and Matthew Paul; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kitty is also survived by her longtime boyfriend, Tim Hurlburt. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Kitty was a 1978 graduate of Manual High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Western Illinois University. She was employed by UBS in Dallas, Texas and for the last year and a half, by J. P. Morgan Chase. Steve Head was a very special, loyal friend and mentor who worked with her for 22 years starting at CS First Boston, then Dillon Read and finally UBS. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 at St. Paul Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Robert Dedmon officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the services at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded.
