Obituary for Stanley Dean Propst

TRIVOLI-Stanley Dean Propst, 85, of Trivoli, passed away peacefully at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 17, 1924 in Bement, IL to Wayne and Alice Webb Propst. He married Rose Tulak and later married Bruny Hengen. He is survived by his loving wife, Bruny of 31 years of Trivoli; his three children, Deana (Fred) Schlink of Peoria, Mark (Doreen) Propst of East Peoria, and Jody (Chuck) Julius of Naperville, IL; two stepsons, David Work of St. Louis, MO and Curt Work of East Alton, IL; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Mary Jane) Propst of Argenta, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, and two sisters. Stanley graduated from Argenta High School in 1941, and then proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II, as a Gunners Mate First Class on the LST during the Philippine Invasion. He was also stationed in the Aleutian Islands and Hawaii. He worked for Johnson Controls for 33 years, retiring as Construction Superintendent. He was President of the Bergan High School Booster Club and a member of Steamfitters Local #353. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and golfing. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Pastor Michael Henson officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
