Obituary for Edith A. O'Donnell

PEORIA-Edith A. O’Donnell, 89, of Peoria, died at 11:22 a.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born on July 26, 1920, in Bradley, IL to Albert and Rosalie McAnnally Fisher. She married Edward J. O’Donnell, a Peoria attorney, on July 23, 1949, in Chicago. He died August 28, 1977, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Edith was a devoted and loving mother to 11 children, Edward (Brenda) O’Donnell of Plainfield, IL, Mary Lucy Hildreth of Lombard, IL, Thomas (Elly) O’Donnell of Chicago, IL, Patty (Charlie) Martin of Lemont, IL, Lawrence (Diane) O’Donnell of Evergreen Park, IL, Theresa (Charles) Covey of Peoria, Anne (Larry) Loomis of Clarendon Hills, IL, Rosie Lahrman of Ft. Wayne, IN, Joseph O’Donnell of Cypress, CA, Judith (Michael) Strejc of Bloomingdale, IL and Gerard O’Donnell of Peoria. She was a caring and loving grandmother of 22 and great-grandmother of 8. She was a graduate of Kelly High School and Monroe Business College, Chicago, IL. Edith was a Supervisor for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a member of Catholic Women’s League, St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark Sodality, American Legion Auxiliary, and many other Catholic and charitable groups. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, at St. Mark’s Church with Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Manor or St. Mark’s School. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
