Obituary for Neoma M. DeWulf

PEORIA-Neoma M. DeWulf, 96, a life long resident of Peoria, died at 3 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Lutheran Hillside Village, where she was a resident for the past 2 ½ years. She was born on July 8, 1911 in Peoria to John and Alice Clark DeWulf. Miss DeWulf graduated from the Academy of Our Lady on June 13, 1929. She was employed by R. G. LeTourneau as Chief Operator on the automatic TWX machine and later became supervisor. She retired in August 1976. Miss DeWulf followed Peoria happenings diligently as she was interested in the city’s growth, politics, schools and businesses and had a special place in her heart for Bradley University. Her four nieces, Judy Ziel of WI, Janet Gens of OH, Mary Stanley of IL and Donna Dorsett of AL; and three nephews, John Schumacher of NJ, Jim Schumacher of Belgium and Jim DeWulf of FL will miss her caring manner and positive spirit, but most of all her laughter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer A. “Huck” DeWulf and her sister, Mary DeWulf Schumacher. Neoma DeWulf’s life will be celebrated at St. Bernard Catholic Church during a 10:30 a.m. mass on Friday with Msgr. Paul Showalter officiating. Her family will greet friends and parishioners 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Church. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
