Obituary for Mary Alice Kucavik-Adams
Mary Alice “Mickey” Kucavik Adams, age 96, of Bartonville passed away on Friday May 24, 2019, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria IL.
She was born on February 2, 1923, in Peoria to Walter and Evelyn Gray. She married William J. Kucavik on February 22, 1941. He died on November 16, 1979. She then married Harry R. Adams on August 16, 1980. He died on May 26, 1986.
Surviving are six children, Gloria (Michael) Hanchette of Lewisvile, TX, Carole Taylor of Dunlap, Larry (Denise) Kucavik of Metamora, Gary Kucavik, Marilyn (Larry) Davis, and Nancy (Brent) Marcussen all of Bartonville; six stepchildren, Pat Heathcoat, John (Candy) Adams, Bernadette (John) Warnke, Paula (Rex) Carter, Jeannie Adams, and Nancy (Ed) Tatera. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-six step grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, forty step great-grandchildren, and eight step great-great-grandchildren.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Walter “Gene” Gray, Robert Gray, and Gloria Barnewolt and by one infant grandson.
She was a former member of St. John Catholic Church in Peoria and its Altar and Rosary Society and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville, IL since 1969.
As a teenager, Mickey worked as a car hop, she later worked at Hiram Walker, and in men and boys wear at Szolds department store in Peoria.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville at 10 am, on Thursday, May 30, 2019 with visitation 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Peoria, IL.
