Obituary for Robert "Bob" Bishop
Peoria- Robert Lewis “Bob” Bishop, 62, of Peoria, formerly of Dallas and Nashville, passed away at 3:28 AM, Monday, February 5, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Bob was born on November 8, 1955 in Peoria, a son of Thomas J. and Mary Ellen (Grant) Bishop, Sr. His parents preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by one brother, Thomas Bishop, Jr., two sisters, Mary Kay Bishop and Kathleen Bishop, all of Peoria. He is also survived by two nephews, Douglas (Molly) Bishop of Peoria and Thomas (Megan) Bishop of Dunlap, one niece, Kimberly (Jeff) Tessendorf of Washington, IL., 11 great-nieces and nephews, one great great niece, one aunt, Charlene Bishop of Peoria, as well as many cousins.
Bob attended St. Patrick Grade School and Spalding Institute in Peoria. Bob was a very successful songwriter, singer, piano player and recording artist for over 5 decades. He was fortunate enough to play throughout the central Illinois area for several years, before moving to Dallas, TX. After nearly 30 years of working in Dallas, Bob continued to write, co-write and perform in Nashville, TN. He was one who was lucky enough to makes his dreams his lifework. His grand finale was at Sky Harbor Steakhouse in Peoria on February 2, 2018, 3 days before he passed. Bob’s pure heart, loving spirit and music will be missed by family and friends, all across the country.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Mark Catholic Church with a half hour prior visitation. Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate and burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
