Obituary for Gloria Jean Berg
Peoria- Gloria Jean Berg, age 82, of Peoria, passed away at 7:40 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Heritage Health in Chillicothe with her family by her side.
Born August 27, 1940 in Peoria, IL, a daughter to Harold Sr. and June (Burton) Alexander. Gloria was raised and educated in Peoria, attending The Academy of Our Lady and graduating with the Class of 1958. On September 12, 1959 she married Ronald Berg Sr. and together they cherished 44 years until his passing on September 3, 2003. Gloria worked as a secretary for Bergan High School, Peoria High School, and Wilson School for 35 years until her retirement. She had a heart of service, having volunteered for the American Red Cross and Salvation Army for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose passion was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons: Ronald (Terri) Berg, Jr. of Climax Springs, MO, and Randall Berg of Peoria Heights; six grandchildren: Aleah (Kray) Kellogg, Barbara (Bobby) Welte, Kevin Berg, Severn (Kristina) Berg, Sarah (Nick) Breitbarth and Cory VandeBerg; four great-grandchildren: Asher Ransom, Carson VandeBerg, Kieran Kellogg and Elliott Berg; and one brother Tom (Debbie) Alexander of Peoria.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, one son Reginald Berg, one sister Mary Jo Alexander and three brothers: George, Tim and Harold “Buddy” Alexander.
Cremation rites have been accorded per Gloria’s wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wright and Salmon Mortuary on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 between the hours of 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials in Gloria’s memory may be made Heritage Health.
