Obituary for Judy L. Stickelmaier
Washington-Judith L. (Judy) Stickelmaier,76 of Washington, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Judy was born on March 22, 1941 in Macomb, IL to Earl and Buna (Harry) Elam. She married James F. (Jim) Stickelmaier on October 26, 1963 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jim, and children; Bill (Kelly) Stickelmaier, Susan (Mark) Newton, Jeanne (Tony) Williams, Bob (Mary) Stickelmaier and 16 grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Leta Berbaum, H. Dennis (Ginny) Elam, Rich (Paula) Elam and Robin (Randy) White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, William Elam.
Judy graduated as valedictorian of Norwood Grade School in 1955. She attended Limestone High School and worked at Bellvue Drive-In. After graduating in 1959, Judy worked for Illinois Bell advancing to AT & T until starting a family.

Judy was a devoted member of both St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL (since 1999) and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church (since 1966), giving countless hours toward the St. Bernard’s Mother’s Club, gymnasium rentals, finance committee, bazaar, chicken noodle dinners, and cub scouts. She was also involved with Academy of Our Lady/ Spalding Institute giving her time as concession stand manager and serving on the Parents Board.

Hosting guests was one of Judy’s favorite things to do- whether it be soup suppers, pool parties or holidays…and guests were never disappointed in her culinary skills. She also enjoyed fishing, walking in the woods, playing bridge, dancing, live music, beach time, driving her red suburban, Elvis, crossword puzzles and Elton John’s music, all while sipping a glass of wine. No matter the activity her greatest pleasure was spending time with those she loved.

Judy will always be remembered for her fun- loving spirit and the joy she always brought with her.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 10 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2017 with an additional 30 minute visitation prior to Mass.
