Obituary for Nancy Fitzsimmons
Peoria- Nancy Fitzsimmons, age 81, of Peoria, passed away at 7:41 PM on Monday, October 09, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 13, 1935 in Peoria, she was a daughter to Edward and Mildred (Powers) McQuellon. She met the love of her life, John Fitzsimmons, working as a bookkeeper at McQuellon Plumbing. On January 19, 1957 they married in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 09, 1994.
Nancy worked in the kitchen at Peoria Notre Dame High School from 1989 till 2011 and was known as the “Rice Krispie Lady.” She was an avid University of Notre Dame football fan who loved being at the beach, sitting out in the sun, and swimming. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two children: Tim (Becky) Fitzsimmons of Peoria and Colleen (Brad) Dwyer of Peoria; six grandchildren: Corrie Fitzsimmons-Bird, Conner (Meredith) Fitzsimmons, Morgan (Fiancé Cody Russell) Dwyer, Mallory Dwyer, Codie Fitzsimmons, and Madyson Dwyer; 4 great-grandchildren: Matilynn, Hadley, Brock, Libby; two brothers: Pat (Sally) McQuellon of Kickapoo and Tim (Edie) McQuellon of Peoria; as well as, two sisters: Colleen (Tom) Schmitt of Chillicothe and Linda (Gene) Roseboom of Chillicothe.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 between the hours of 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Recitation of the rosary will take place at 4:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation being held 30 minutes prior to mass. Father Alexander Millar will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heart felt thanks to Jackie at Unity Point Hospice for her love and care of their mother.
Memorials in Nancy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to Peoria Notre Dame High School.
