Obituary for Lisa M. Hoette Gabrys
Peoria- Lisa M. Hoette Gabrys, age 57, of Carlock, IL passed away peacefully as the sun was setting Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, with her family by her side.
Lisa was born March 5, 1960 in Peoria, IL., a beloved daughter of Berlyn (Vivian) Hoette and Sandra Schuh Hoette. She was a beloved mom to Abby, Christopher, and Michael Gabrys, and adored mammy of Eli and Evan Gabrys. Lisa is also survived by: two sisters, Lori (Katie) Hoette, Lynn Hoette, and brother Mark (Bridgette) Hoette; nieces, Olivia and Claire, nephews, Ronald, Travis, and Blake; her significant other, Allen Foes, and her daughter-in-law Holly Gabrys; and fond niece of Sharon Schuh Bayer and Allan (Donna) Schuh.
She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas and her aunt, Shirley Hannon.
Lisa is remembered as a bubbly and enthusiastic woman who saw the world through rose colored glasses. Her relentlessly upbeat personality and optimism were contagious. She loved to focus on the simpler things in life, such as gardening, cooking, decorating her house, and family holidays. One of the things she enjoyed the most was riding her horse Hugo, the gentle giant. Lisa was an amazingly selfless woman who always worried about everyone else far before herself. Fueled by Diet Pepsi, vanilla long johns and glasses of Riesling, always with three ice cubes, Lisa would pour every bit of herself into everything she did.
Those who were fortunate enough to meet her, adored her, and she made sure to always keep in touch. Such a loyal friend and loving mother and grandmother will be deeply missed by many.Â
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, October, 7, 2017 also at Wright and Salmon Mortuary with a half hour prior visitation. Father David Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
