Obituary for Jeanette Krumpe Stevens
PEORIA~ Jeanette Krumpe Stevens, 92, of Peoria, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Villas of Hollybrook in East Peoria.
Born March 16, 1930 in Peoria to Arthur and Grace (Werckle) Krumpe, she married W. Gene Stevens on June 17, 1951 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2013. She also was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mark Stevens and her son-in-law, Jeff Reed.
Surviving are three daughters, Julie Reed of Peoria, Kathy (Dan) Whiteside of Cobden and Lynn (Tracie Russell) Stevens of Shelburn, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Lorrie (Stanley) Hafner of Milan; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Macy) Stevens, Aaron (Yenae) Stevens, Rachel (Sam) Grampsas, Diane (Tim) Koons, Steve Reed, Dusty Whiteside, and Katie (Clay) Harris; six great-grandchildren, Lucas Cox, Jeffrey Reed, Noah Koons, Brady Stevens, Briella Stevens and Rylee DeClerck. Also surviving is her brother, Richard “Dick” (Star) Krumpe of Peoria.
Jeanette graduated from Bradley University and Illinois Central College. She went on to work as a third-grade teacher for over 16 years at Dunlap Grade School.
An active member of University United Methodist church, she loved singing in the church choir, playing in the handbell choir and had been a Sunday School teacher and Children’s Choir accompanist.
She was an accomplished seamstress who also enjoyed cross stitching, needlepoint, crocheting and quilting. She also had been a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and played in her Bridge Club.
Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who always put others before herself. She took great pleasure in nurturing and befriending anyone she met. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at University United Methodist Church in Peoria. Pastor Ethan Carnes will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
