Obituary for Robert Eugene Maushard
Robert Eugene Maushard (Bob), 87, of Peoria passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Bob was born in Peoria on August 18, 1934, to Eugene Joseph Maushard and Agnes L. (Lovey) (Berendt) Maushard. He married Kathleen Anne (Cook) Maushard in Peoria on April 23, 1957; she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Cynthia Hamor of Decatur, Christopher Maushard of Peoria, and Andrea (Marvin) Rossi of Oak Park; five grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Hamor, Jessica Hamor, Nathan Hamor, Isabella Rossi, and Ilana Rossi; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Janie) Maushard of Peoria; a sister-in-law, Nancy Maushard of Peoria; a sister, Mary (Michael Aaron) Maushard of Baltimore; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Thomas, and an infant brother.
He was a graduate of Spalding Institute and served in the U.S. Army.
Bob was a metal plater for many years in the family-owned business, Central Fixture and Plating Company. After a fire destroyed the building in 1973, the business was re-established on McClure Avenue, where Bob became a merchandise salesperson, lamp shade department manager, and shared ownership of the business. He had over 50 years of service. His work ethic, unwavering faith, and love of laughter inspired all. He was a friend to everyone, and his happiest times were being with people and at family gatherings. Polishing his car and manicuring his lawn were, however, close seconds. His quiet guidance and resilience established the foundation that supported his family and was always the source of comfort and reassurance. He will be truly missed.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary beginning at 3:15 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peoria Heights with visitation beginning one hour before the service. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home, St. Thomas the Apostle Church, or the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
