Obituary for Kenneth L. Griffith
Eureka- Kenneth L. Griffith, age 78, of Eureka, passed away to eternity Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Peoria, IL.

Ken was born Friday, January 27, 1939 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL., a son to Noel and Evelyn (Stanhope) Griffith. He married Jeanette Sanderson, in Peoria, on April 15, 1966. She survives, along with two daughters; Vickie Sullivan and Debra (Robert) Fehr, one son; Steven Griffith, five grandchildren; David and Jenny Sullivan, Steven Griffith, Jessica Shindley and Natalie Fehr, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, David (Chris) of Troy, Ohio. He was a wonderful husband, and a caring, loving father to his four adopted children. He will be greatly missed.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Griffith, one sister, Ellen Seling, and one granddaughter, Christine Fehr.

Ken attended Kingman Grade School and graduated from Woodruff High School in 1957, while playing on winning football teams for four years. He attended Illinois Central College and Bradley University. Ken was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 1993, as a member of the undefeated 1955 Woodruff High School Football team.

Ken was on active duty, during peace time, in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He served in Hawaii, Kwajalein, and Charleston, SC. He was a member of the American Legion Post 466 in Eureka, IL.

Ken worked for Republic Electric & Development Co., Keystone Steel & Wire Co., Enercon Engineering and Caterpillar. He retired from Caterpillar in 2002 after 22 years. During retirement, Ken was a volunteer driver for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center for 10 years, and during the winter, was a shuttle driver for South Lake Hospital in Clermont, FL., for 5 years.

Per Ken’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.
