Obituary for Richard D. Clift
PEORIA-Richard D. Clift 88, passed away at 4:13pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Richard was born on November 26, 1932 in Peoria to James D. and Anna Bernice (Headley) Clift. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Billy James and one sister, Gloria A. (Pete) Beitzel.
He is survived by three sons, Dale R. of Putnam County, Thomas J. of Ft Myers, FL, Dave (Kirsten) of Peoria; one daughter, Diana (Scott) Cicciarelli of Peoria; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
In his early years, Richard served in the Air National Guard and was a private pilot. He loved the theater and was active in Cornstock Theater, Peoria Players and the Caterpillar Chorus. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. until his retirement. He was long-time member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
He loved to tell a good story and cherished his car rides giving “tours” and talking about his past. He will be dearly missed by all that loved him. In the end we gave Our Dad the greatest gift by having all of his children reunited again before his passing of this life.
We would like to thank the Doctors and staff and Clergy at OSF emergency room for their care, kindness and compassion during our Father's final hour.
A Private family graveside service will be held at St Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Children’s Hospital.
