Obituary for Nancy Ann Hoover
Peoria- Nancy Ann Hoover, 62, of Peoria, Illinois passed away at 9:40 AM on October 18, 2016 from complications of Lymphoma, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Born on March 3, 1954 in Dubuque, Iowa, Nancy was the daughter of the Robert J. Hoover and Norma (Weber) Hoover. She graduated from Naperville Central High School and attended Illinois State University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1976. Nancy had an accomplished career in education; teaching Science at Riverview Grade School in East Peoria for thirty-three years, retiring in 2009. An advocate for students she often served as Student Council Advisor and coordinated numerous Science Fairs. An active church and community volunteer, avid Peoria Chiefs and Chicago Cubs fan, she also enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Peoria Heights. Nancy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her siblings: Mary Jo (Jim) Hoftiezer, Joe (Debbie) Hoover, Judy Frankland; four nieces and nephews: David (Noelle) and William Hoftiezer, Ian and Rachel Frankland, one grandniece Lia Hoftiezer. She is also survived by special cousin Lynn (Randy) Gerstman, Aunts and Uncles; Peggy Cunningham, Jan and Irv Lorenzen, John and Glendene Hoover, and numerous cousins. Additionally, very dear and loving friends: Eileen and John Wikoff, Florence Beltz, Kathleen Murray, Susan McCormick, James Boehm, and numerous other friends are a part of Nancy’s extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncles; Raymond and Monica Weber, Donald Cunningham, and cousin Roger Weber.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Judy Frankland, Eileen and John Wikoff, Nancy’s many loving friends, and OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Peoria Heights, at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 21, 2016. Visitation will be held an hour prior to Mass, at 10:00 AM with a rosary at 10:45. Father Paul Stark will be officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded. At a date yet to be determined, additional services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elkader, Iowa, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
