Obituary for Donna B. Salrin
PEORIA – Donna B. Salrin, 95, of West Peoria passed away at 8:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Heddington Oaks.
Donna was born on Aug. 3, 1921, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Walter and Elsie (Petersen) Lyttleton. She married James R. Salrin on Jan. 7, 1941, at St. John Catholic Church, Peoria. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1990, in Galesburg.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Johnston; and grandchildren, Jim Fuson and Sharon Hurst.
She is survived by four children, Judith (Harold) Fuson of West Peoria, David (Sue) Salrin of Dunlap, Kathy (Phil) Borland of Glasford, and Bonnie (Mike) McSimov of Bartonville; seven grandchildren, Theresa (John) Powers, Ellie Salrin, Jenni (Shawn) Hoerr, Danny (Jenny) Borland, Lacey (Carl) Sindle, Chad (Kristie) McSimov, and Brad McSimov; and eight great-grandchildren, Paige Carter, Adam Hurst, Katie and Drew Davis, Jack and Leah Borland, Lucy Sindle, and Payton McSimov; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Julia Brown and Alice Salrin.
Donna was an only child and always wanted many children. The more the merrier was her slogan. All of her children and grandchildren never hesitated to bring along a friend when visiting Grandma and Grandpa Salrin.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel. Msgr. Stanley Deptula will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the chapel. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
