Obituary for William Shaffer
William L. Shaffer passed away in San Antonio, Texas on February 24, 2022 due to complications from Covid.
He was born in Peoria February 10, 1935 to Joseph and Eileen Shaffer.
He graduated from Woodruff High School and attended Western Illinois and Bradley Universities. He completed the Tool and Dye apprenticeship at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. and he was the founder of Wm Shaffer Manufacturing.
On May 4, 1957 he married Marilyn Schauff in Tampico, Illinois. She preceded him in death, passing away March 7, 2021. In the last years of their life together, Bill was a devoted caregiver to her.
He is survived by three children, Denise Foster of Peoria, Jeffery Shaffer of San Antonio, Texas and Elizabeth Shaffer of Peoria. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Bill’s greatest loves were his family, the St. Louis Cardinals and golf. During his retirement he volunteered at Neumann Golf Course as a starter and marshal. He delighted at working at the game he enjoyed his whole life.
A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 17, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.
