Obituary for William F. Honaker

PEORIA-William F.Honaker, 79, of Peoria, passed away at 11:22 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on September 12, 1930, in Johnson, Nebraska, to Benjamin S. and Lola B. Devereaux Honaker. He married Mary Ann Svymbersky on July 5, 1952 in Peoria, IL. She survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Pamela (Alan) Lippert of Pekin, Janice (Randall) Gibson of Batavia and Tamara (Merle) Buttz of Des Moines, IA; three grandsons, Stephen Taghan, Aaron Taghan and R.J. Gibson; three granddaughters, Heather (Brian) Glesne, Michelle Lippert and Elizabeth Gibson; one great-grandson, Lucas Glesne; one great-granddaughter, Emily Glesne; one brother, Benjamin S. (Maxine) Honaker of Centennial, CO; two sisters, Virginia Berschiet of Melrose, MN and Lola (Jake) Feis of Omaha, NE; He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Michael Taghan and Peyton Gibson; and one brother, Duane. William was a barber for 40 years and also worked at Caterpillar, Inc. and retired in factory accounting after 40 years. He was a Korean War Marine veteran, serving from 1950-1954. He was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church and Men’s Club and Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Philomena Church with Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, where Military Rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Cardiac ICU or St. Philomena School Endowment Fund. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
