William E. “Willy” Levan, 57, beloved son, brother, father and friend passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 2:02am unexpectedly. He is survived by his three children, Ronnie, Jamie and Shannon, his ex-wife, Ruth, six granddaughters and one grandson, his brothers Michael (Jenny), Marty (Tammy) and Bobby (Laura) and one sister Colleen (Kevin), Brian “Bones” Jones, 8 nieces and nephews, 26 cousins in Chicago and many more family members and friends. Willy was preceded in death by his parents, James P and Margaret A “Peggy” Finnegan-Levan, his grandparents, James and Hannah Finnegan and James and Ula Levan, three uncles and three aunts in Chicago and one nephew, Phillip.
Willy was born in Chicago on August 3, 1964 and moved to Peoria in 1970 with his family. He attended school in Peoria and obtained an associate degree in Building Technology in which he used extensively in his remodeling career. He was a wiz with numbers and could add, subtract, multiply and divide any set of numbers in his head and was always correct. His two brothers, Michael and Marty and their buddy Bones were his best friends throughout his whole life. Willy was respected and loved by many. When you were his friend, you were his friend for life. Just as the song states, Willy always did it his way. Willy was proud of his Irish heritage.
A visitation will be held for Willy at the Wright & Salmon Mortuary, 2416 N. North Street, Peoria IL 61604 on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:00am-Noon. All who knew Willy and the family are welcome to attend. Please come as you are as Willy was never into dress clothes.
In lieu of flowers, the Levan family would appreciate donations in Willy’s honor to the Richard J. Parsons Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
