Obituary for William A. "Bruz" Roth
William A. “Bruz” Roth passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his residence in Peoria, IL. He was born August 2nd, 1945 in Peoria, to William A. and Dolores E. (Jones) Roth.
Bill is survived by 4 sisters; June Hamilton, Mary (Harold) Adams, Phyllis (Dave) Christopher, and Jona (Randy) Lloyd and two brothers; Mike Roth and Donald (Linda) Roth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and sister, Bonnie Barnewolt.
Bill attended Limestone High School where he excelled in football. He later worked for TPW Railroad which he loved. He helped his father with champion race horses traveling to many horse tracks to race. The love of Bill’s life was late model dirt track racing. His racing and building late model stock cars career lasted over 50 years dating back to the old Mt. Hawley Speedway. He was a mechanic on many championship cars; number 75 Jim/Fred Stube, Ray Gus, Ray Gus, Jr. and Billy Tuckwell.
Bill was a devoted son to his mother, living with her after his father passed away to help take care of her. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and his dog friend Nakia.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022 also at the mortuary, with a half hour prior visitation. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, IL.
