Obituary for Wendy Jo Madigan

Peoria- Wendy Jo Madigan, age 62, finished her journey here on this earth and went to be with the Lord at 1:29 AM on Thursday, July 12, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Wendy was born to Wendell and Judy (Knapp) Myers on August 2, 1955, in Peoria. She was the only daughter among four brothers; Robert, John-Michael, Timothy and Danny. She found great pleasure in playing jokes on them, and to this day, none of them will check their mailboxes on April 1st.

Wendy attended Holy Family Grade School and Richwoods High School. She met the love of her life, Daniel, at age 15. They were married October 28, 1972 in Peoria. Her greatest accomplishments, besides being a loving wife, were her two children; Danny (Kristy) Madigan and Jennifer Erin (Spencer) Hammond. She leaves behind five grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Will, Halli Jo, Lilli, Samuel and Ireland (who she named), and one great-grandson, Liam, who had her whole heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wendell, her grandparents, little brother, Timothy Myers and one baby.

Wendy held many positions throughout the years, but her heart was always in healthcare, where she was a nurses’ assistant for many years, hoping to become a nurse. Her daughter carries forth that legacy. She later became a homemaker, raising their two children, and she would say, her husband too.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, and driving on any backroad she could find. Her heart was in the kitchen and to her that was ‘therapy’. She was best known for her pies and made sure her children and grandchildren were given lessons. In her life’s journey, she found strength and peace in music and faith in her Heavenly Father.

Wendy loved people and was empathetic towards anyone who needed love shown to them. She was always an encourager and a voice of reason.

‘She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.’ Proverbs 31:25.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Cottonwood Cemetery in North Hanna City.

Memorials may be made to Wendy’s family to help with funeral expenses.
