Obituary for Warren J Watkins
Peoria-Warren J. Watkins, 88, of Peoria, died at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012. He was born July 31, 1923, in Riverside, Iowa, to Warren G. and Ruth Murphy Watkins. He married Dorothy L. Wilson on Oct. 12, 1946, in Peoria. She survives, along with two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Warren was in auto parts sales for thirty years at Sieg Auto Supply of Peoria retiring in 1990. He was a member of University United Methodist Church, was a Past Master of Grandview Masonic Lodge #1112 AF & AM in 1962, and sang with the Chanters in the Shrine .Warren was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Peoria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and golf. He was a WW II Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific and the Aleutian Islands. A Funeral Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. Rev. Paul Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday with a Masonic Service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation Rites will be accorded after the service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Springdale Cemetery . Memorials contributions can be made to The Mohammed Shrine Crippled Children’s Van Service.
