Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Faye Crouch

EAST PEORIA - Virginia “Ginny” Faye Crouch, 87, formerly of East Peoria, passed away peacefully at 5:13 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka with her family at her side.

Ginny was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Kewanee, Ill., the daughter of Faye and G. Lawrence West. She spent her childhood years in Dunlap, graduating salutatorian from Dunlap High School at 17 years of age. She then attended Bradley University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. At Bradley, she met and later married C. Russell Crouch on June 11, 1950, in Dunlap. He passed away Sept. 3, 1994.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Gary) Bartholomew of Peoria; two sons, James (Pam) Crouch of East Peoria and Corey (Cindy) Crouch of Morton; grandchildren, Kerry (Madelyn) Bartholomew of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Nicole (Ryan) Birdsall of San Jose, Calif., Jeffery (Sean) Warren-Crouch of Elgin, Ill., and Colson and Caylee Crouch both of Morton; step-grandchildren, Brad (Annette) Davis of Hastings, Nebr., Katelynn Davis of Metamora, and Mallori Davis of Peoria; great-grandchildren, Jaclyn, Vivian and Virginia Bartholomew of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Kaci Warren-Crouch of Elgin, Ill.; step-great-grandchildren, Brantley Skinner and Abel Zimmerman both of Peoria; sister-in-law, Barbara Keesecker of Colorado; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Mary Ann Guidotti.

Besides being a great mother and homemaker, Ginny taught special education in the East Peoria Elementary Schools for 20 years, retiring in 2000. She most loved spending time with family and friends and loved watching sports, especially if her children or grandchildren were participating. She was an avid bridge player, belonging to several bridge clubs, and volunteered teaching adults to read through Tazewell County. She and her husband also volunteered for years with the Festival of Lights in East Peoria.

She was a charter member of Fondulac Congregational Church in East Peoria but for the past 12 years attended her “home” church, Prospect United Methodist Church in Dunlap.

A special thank you for all the love, care, and support from the staff of the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka for their exceptional care of Ginny this past year.

A memorial service for Ginny will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Prospect United Methodist Church in Dunlap, with visitation one hour prior to services. The Reverend Steve Pichaske will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
