Obituary for Virginia C. Prunch

PEORIA HEIGHTS-Virginia Christine Panagos Prunch, 86, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at her son’s home, surrounded by her family. Ginny was born to Constantine “Gus” and Victoria Wozniak Panagos (Panagopoulos) of Chicago, IL on February 1, 1924, on the kitchen table of their home in Cicero. Ginny attended the Art Institute in Chicago and Illinois Central College. Throughout her life, Ginny continued painting, making jewelry and working in stone, metal and clay. Ginny met Paul, the love of her life, in Chicago. They were married on October 20, 1945, and moved to Peoria in 1951. Ginny and Paul played tennis, golf and bowled together for many years. Ginny was a charter member of the Peoria Women’s Nine Hole Golf League. She was active in many volunteer activities. Ginny’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves cherished memories to her husband, Paul; her children, Constance Dodge (Jim), Russell Prunch (Pam) and Sherry Schlosser; her grandchildren, Luke Quinn (Brianne), Bob Quinn, Patrick Dodge and Heather Schlosser; her great grandchildren, Jacob, Ian, and Ava Quinn, and Savannah Schlosser; and her devoted caregivers, Valerie and Carrie. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Frances Mackel and her daughter, Sherry. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 with Msgr. Paul Showalter officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Church.
