Obituary for Timothy J. Newlin
Peoria- Timothy J. Newlin, age 70, of Peoria, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
Born December 2, 1952 in Peoria, a son to Jackson and Joyce (Allenbach) Newlin. He was raised and educated in Peoria, graduating from Peoria High School with the Class of 1970. After high school he attended Southern Methodist University where he obtained both his undergraduate degree and his law degree. On December 20, 1985 he married the love of his life Lori A. Sheppard at St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Peoria. Together they cherished 37 years. Timothy worked for more than 42 years as an attorney in Peoria, specializing in worker’s compensation. He was an active member of numerous organizations within the Peoria community. A devout man of faith, Timothy attended mass daily, prayed every day, and was actively living the message of Jesus in his daily life. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, swimming, golfing, going on long walks, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Lori of Peoria; four children: Tim (Sunyoung) Newlin of Aberdeen, Maryland, Joel Newlin of Peoria, Zack Newlin of Peoria, and Libby (Michael) Bono of Peoria; three grandchildren: Henry, Andrew, and Jude Newlin; one sister Jean Newlin-Schnake of North Liberty, IA; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Friday, March 31, 2023 between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM with an additional visitation being held one hour prior to mass. Father David Richardson will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Preferred memorials in Timothy’s memory may be made to St. Philomena Catholic Church, Easter Seals Autism Program, or a trust fund for Zachary D. Newlin C/O Busey Bank.
