Obituary for Thomas W. Ott

Thomas W. Ott, 70, of Pekin, Illinois, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Pekin Hospital. He died of complications related to multiple sclerosis unrelated to COVID-19. 

He was born on May 6, 1950 in Highland, Illinois to Kenneth L. and W. Ann (Mullen) Ott, both of whom predeceased him. His wife, Loren, also predeceased him.

He is survived by his sister, Sally Ott (Jerome) Armstrong, two brothers, John S. (Crystal) Ott and Edward J. Ott and the following nieces and nephews: Amanda L. (Matthew) Winkler, Zachary R. (Amy) Armstrong, Jeremy R. Armstrong, Luke Z. (Mary) Ott, Jake S. Ott, Drew H. Ott and Jennifer M. Ott, as well as the following great nieces and great nephews: Bjorn K. Winkler, Brynn A. Winkler, Cora A. Ott, Thea R. Ott, Finn C. Ott and Ava Jo Armstrong. Most of his family still resides in the Peoria area with a large significant extended family (aunts, uncles and cousins) living in Montgomery County and Bond County, Illinois.

Thomas graduated from Peoria High School and attended the University of Michigan. He was a master chess player and played guitar as part of a local rock band called “The Glass Factory” in the late 1960s. He loved sports, especially football and baseball.

A private family celebration of life will be held and cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Greater Illinois Multiple Sclerosis Society, located at 525 W. Monroe St., Suite 1510, Chicago, IL 60661.
