Obituary for Thomas "T.J." J. Foley

PEORIA-Thomas “T.J.” J. Foley, 79, of Peoria, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Born on September 4, 1930, in Peoria, to W. Frank and Irene Cody Wombacher Foley. He married Julie K. Looney on May 11, 1963, in Peoria. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Michael (Charlene) Foley of Mission Viejo, CA and Timothy (Christine) Foley of Peoria; two daughters, Kathleen (Max) Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA and Molly (David) Knight of Peoria; twelve grandchildren; two step brothers, Gerald (Ann) Wombacher and Dr. Robert (Judy) Wombacher both of Peoria; and one nephew, Kevin (Dee Dee) Sullivan of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Colette Sullivan. He was a 1948 graduate of Spalding, attended Marquette University for two years and a 1952 graduate of Bradley University. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree. T.J. was a Stock Broker for Smith-Barney for more than 50 years. He was a Korean War US Army veteran. T.J. loved to golf and was an avid sports fan. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Church with Msgr. Jason Gray officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the church and one hour before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of St. Francis of Immaculate Conception Convent Retirement Fund, 2408 W.
