PEORIA – Thomas Mullen Sack, 49, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, in Marion, Ill. Thomas was born on Mar. 31, 1965, to Michael and Margaret Diane (McCarthy) Sack and spent the first 18 years of his life with his three brothers, Tim (Kim), Todd (Mishel), and Steve (Megan) all of Peoria, and his two sisters, Susie of Bartonville, and Sara (deceased). He forged life-long friendships at Bergan High School prior to attending St. Ambrose University for two years. Tom then transferred to Illinois State University where he received his BS in marketing. After college, Tom married Lisa Marie Knudsen and moved to Pennsylvania where he began a successful career at Fastenal Company, working his way to national sales manager. During that time, Tom and Lisa welcomed three beautiful children, Kenneth of Athens, Ga., Rachael of Key West, Fla., and Tara of Cumming, Ga. After residing in Pennsylvania for nine years the family relocated to Georgia where three more beautiful boys were born, Justin, Ryan, and Adam all of Cumming, Ga. Tom will always be remembered for his upbeat attitude and great sense of humor. He would make his children laugh with creative bedtime stories and silly jokes. His strong faith and family values contributed to his gift of being a wonderful father. He enjoyed spending his days at the pool, camping, and vacations to the beach, surrounded with the love and presence of his family. His passion was football; and he will be remembered most by his family for the hours of sports played together on the weekends. His favorite holidays were Superbowl Sunday and Thanksgiving, knowing that he would have a wonderful day, being with his family and his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family, and his family loved him. In addition to his mother, brothers, sister, children and their mother, Tom is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Sara and Mary Leah. Relatives and friends are invited to Wright & Salmon Mortuary from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, to share in celebrating the life of Tom with his family. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:45 pm. A memorial Mass to honor Tom will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Additional time to visit with the family will begin one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded.
