Obituary for Thomas L. May
Peoria- Thomas L. May, age 72, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
Thomas was born December 27, 1944, in Peoria, a son of Willard L. and Bernadean E. (Vonk) May. He married Joan L. Miller, December 27, 1974. She survives. Also surviving Thomas are his two daughters; Jean (Chad) Rutschke of Peoria and Cheryl May of Lansing, MI., three grandchildren; Kylie, Max, and Jennifer Rutschke, three siblings; Judy (Ron) Ziemba of Chillicothe, Kathy Burkley (Roger Miller)of Germantown Hills, and John (Ellyn) May of Edelstein, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Bradley Rutschke.
Thomas proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked at Caterpillar for 42 years, until his retirement. Thomas was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and a 25 year volunteer with the Rebuilding Together Peoria.
Funeral Mass will be 2:30 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, with a one hour prior visitation. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial will be the following day, Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church or Rebuilding Together Peoria.
