Obituary for Theresa E. Gilles
THERESA E. GILLES, 94, of Kickapoo, peacefully passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, June 18th at Buehler Home in Peoria, IL.
She was born on April 17th, 1927 in Peoria, IL to Matthew and Bridget Sullivan Phelan. She married Eugene “Shorty” Gilles on July 19th, 1952, in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on March 18th, 1993.
She is survived by her children, Dave Gilles (Becky Richards) of Kickapoo; Susan Gilles McDonough of Kickapoo; Lynn (Roger) Kelch of Hanna City; Nancy (Tony) Moushon of Brimfield; and Patrick (Leslie) Gilles of Brimfield; also, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim and Ed Phelan, and her sister Loretta Atkins.
She was a graduate of Brown’s Business College and was then employed at Hiram Walker.
She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her weekly lunches and poker games with her friends. She was very proud of her Irish heritage as well.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo.
Graveside services will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Fr. James Pankiewicz will officiate. A celebration of her life will be celebrated later this summer.
