Obituary for Teresa J. Arnett

Teresa Jean Arnett, 65, of Peoria, joined Jesus in Heaven through His salvation and healing at her home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Waiting at the gates of Heaven for Terri are her parents Earline Gestrine and M. Jean (Logsdon) Gestrine, of Peoria, IL. Terri’s first granddog will also be greeting her with a wagging tail.

Terri is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Peoria, IL; two children, Jennifer Davis and her husband Kyle, of Scottsdale, AZ, Jason Arnett and his wife, Stephanie, of Zionsville, IN; her brother Robert Gestrine and his wife, Janet, of Dunlap, IL; four grandchildren, Emma and Matthew Davis of Scottsdale, AZ, and Henry and Benjamin Arnett of Zionsville, IN. Terri’s granddogs, Ellie and June, also hold a special place in her heart.

Terri was born on December 21, 1956 in Peoria, IL. Terri was always an excellent athlete playing basketball in high school, which she carried into her adult life by participating in tennis leagues. She graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1974 and went on to attend Illinois State University where she received her Bachelors in Education and Masters degrees in Special Education and Education Administration. Her caring heart and patience made her a beloved Special Education teacher in Peoria’s District 150 schools.

It was a perfect summer day in Peoria, IL when Terri married the love of her life, Ken Arnett, on June 21, 1980. Their love story started when they were just young children attending West Bluff Christian Church together. In their 41 years of marriage they raised their two children, shared beautiful moments while fulfilling their dreams, and created everlasting friendships. The fun, sentimental, and sometimes chocolate filled traditions that they established will be forever cherished by her family for years to come.

Family was everything for Terri. Together they traveled the globe, attended annual Cubs vs. Cardinals games, and created memories that would last a lifetime from the adventures both big and small. We could always count on Terri to have a new game to play to fill a room with love and laughter. Terri’s grandchildren and granddogs were the center of her world.

There were many sources of joy for Terri. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, following in the footsteps of her father, and was ecstatic to see them win the World Series in 2016. It was guaranteed that she would be on the sidelines of the many sporting events cheering on Jason and Jenny every step of the way. Terri was the planner, whether it be a family vacation, one of the many volunteer positions she held, or her famous holiday celebrations, every last detail was thought of and executed perfectly!
