Obituary for Steve Elias

PEORIA – Steve A. "Fred" Elias, 85, of Peoria passed away at 4:44 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Heartland Healthcare Center. Steve was born on Jan. 25, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Joseph and Samia Elias. He married Julia Sous on Oct. 17, 1961, in Itoo, Lebanon. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Samia (Mike) Mosher of Washington, Ill.; two sons, Joe Elias of Dunlap and Freddy (Kerry) Elias of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Jake, Jared, Shelby, Briana, Gabbi, and Niko. Steve was the owner of Joe’s Jeep Tap in Peoria for 52 years. He played the trumpet and was a member of several bands years ago. He loved his crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. He also enjoyed contributing to various charities. Steve was a family man. He liked watching and talking sports with his grandchildren and sons. He also found enjoyment in helping his friends. He truly touched a lot of people. He was a devoted member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Fr. David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, also at the church, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Philomena Catholic Church or a fund for the continued medical expenses for his grandson, Niko Elias, c/o CEFCU. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
