Obituary for Stephen C. Schrader
Morton- Stephen C. Schrader, age 66, passed away at 9:05 AM, on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at OSF Hospital in Peoria, IL.
He was born "on the sweetest day of the year" February 14, 1951 in Peoria to F. George and Maxine (White) Schrader, who both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Linda Rogy-Gutierrez, of Peoria, brother-in-law, Alex Gutierrez of Peoria, four nephews; Nick (Marissa) Rogy of Peoria, Taylor (Taresa) Rogy of Peoria, Garrett Gutierrez of Peoria, and Grant Gutierrez of Peoria, one niece, Samantha (Tyler) Alvarez of Farmington. He also has 4 great-nephews and 4 great-nieces.
Steve was an information technology facility planning analyst for Caterpillar. He graduated high school from Spalding Institute. He played football, baseball, and basketball on a team that finished second in state in 1969. Steve attended Butler University on a basketball scholarship where he graduated.
He loved all sports and enjoyed pitching in the Peoria Sunday morning league, coaching legion baseball for Peoria Post Two, playing darts in Catholic and Caterpillar leagues. He also participated in a bowling league, basketball league, and many softball leagues over the years.Â
He was the Goal Judge for the Peoria Rivermen, loved his shuffleboard, and participated in many fantasy sport leagues with his friends, and attended many of his nieces and nephews’ events.
Visitation will be held at Wright and Salmon Mortuary on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3-5 PM with a scripture reading at 5:00. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard's at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 28, 2017 with an additional visitation at 10:00 AM. Father Alexander Millar will officiate. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.
