WEST PEORIA – Sister Patricia Ann (Sister Mary Evelyn) Milhone, 79, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, died on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Mother of Peace Home, West Peoria. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Hogan) Milhone, and stepdaughter of Garnet (Cramblet) Milhone. Sister Patricia Ann entered the congregation on Dec. 8, 1953, and was in her 58th year of religious profession. Sister began her ministry in 1956. Through the years, Sister taught at several of the schools her community staffed, St. Mary Schools in Metamora, Peru, and Henry. She also taught at St. Philomena School in Peoria, Immaculate Conception Convent in Spring Valley, and Sacred Heart School in Moline. In 1969, Sister Patricia Ann was assigned to St. Catherine Parish in Aledo, where she taught kindergarten and was involved in the religious education program. In 1977, Sister began her 27-year career as wing supervisor for the male residents at St. Joseph’s Home in Peoria. “G” wing was known as “Cubs Territory” after her great allegiance to the Chicago Cubs! After St. Joseph’s Home closed, she was caretaker for the elderly, as well as visitor, to residents at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield, Bel-Wood Nursing Home, and Heddington Oaks in West Peoria. For many years, Sister participated in the “In His Footsteps” prison ministry. Bringing the gospel to incarcerated women was a treasured opportunity for Sister Patricia Ann. In addition to the Franciscan sisters with whom she shared her life, she is survived by her brother, Reverend Gordon (Paula) Milhone; and her sister, Janice Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother. A visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Convent, Heading Avenue, West Peoria, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 p.m. Rev.
