Shirley was a 1945 graduate of Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Illinois and was a lifelong devout Catholic. She was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brimfield Illinois and recent member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria.

Shirley and Jack farmed together at Brimfield for more than twenty years. Besides using her creative talents for children’s costumes and school projects, she did custom upholstering and truck name lettering. Later she worked at Proctor Hospital Central Supply by night and crafted artistic gifts for family and St. Jude fundraisers by day. Shirley also enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her friends and family.

In retirement, Shirley and Jack enjoyed traveling the USA in their motor home or using it as the base for nearby campground family gatherings. Shirley became as much of a fan as Jack in following the St. Louis Cardinals.

After her own dedicated caregiving to Jack, Shirley lived in Marilyn’s loving care for ten years until going to Apostolic Christian Skylines. Shirley’s family greatly appreciated the love and care given both by the nursing home staff and OSF Hospice during her stay.
