Obituary for Sheila M. Frye

Sheila M. (Zolper) Frye of Bartonville, IL, passed away at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home after a courageous 3 -year battle with bone cancer.


Sheila was born on February 6th, 1949 in Rock Island, IL. As an infant, Sheila was adopted through the Catholic Social Services, by Arthur J. Zolper and Jean Elizabeth (Griffeth) Zolper.


Sheila married Richard F. Frye on June 21st, 1969 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria, IL.


Survivors include, her husband Rick, two sons, Kevin M. Frye of Hanna City, IL and Dana A. Frye of East Peoria, IL, one brother, Dennis M. Zolper of Jonesboro, AR Kevin’s Wife Dr. Megan D. (Powless) Frye, their three children (twin sons) Trevor M. Frye, Chase A. Frye and one daughter, Harper D Frye.


Sheila was preceded in death by her adopted parents Arthur J. and Jean Elizabeth (Griffeth) Zolper.


Sheila was a beautiful, loving and caring person who always put everyone else before herself. She did an exceptional job raising two fine sons and provided an atmosphere of love and care in their home. She adored her three Grandchildren and enjoyed going to watch them play sports, whether it be football, baseball, soccer, or basketball. Sheila had a real passion for nature and doing anything outside in the fresh air, especially, flower gardening and would spend countless hours tending to her plants and flowers and feeding and caring for any stray animal that might wander by. She also loved riding and taking trips with her husband on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She would say that every trip was a new adventure.


Sheila worked for many years at “The Butcher Block Meat and Deli” in The Metro Center in Peoria and Lake of the Wood’s Plaza.


As per Sheila’s wishes, Cremation has been Accorded and there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at Wright and Salmon Mortuary on February 6th (Her Birthday) 2023 with burial of ashes at a later date.


In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: Tazewell Animal Protection Service (TAPS) , St Jude Children’s Hospital, St Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, IL (For Masses) or Freedom Paws Service Dogs Foundation (Chillicothe, IL).
