Obituary for Sharon "Sue" Stone
Sharon "Sue" Stone passed peacefully in her home, in Kickapoo, surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
Sue was born on April 4, 1941 in Drakesville, Iowa, to Myrtle (Hasting) and Berl Wilcox. Sue later moved to Gladstone, Illinois, where she met her husband. Sue married Jim Stone on September 6, 1961. After their wedding they moved to Nome, Alaska, where their 2 children were born. In 1964, Sue and Jim moved back to Peoria, Illinois and then moved to Kickapoo, Illinois in 1971.
Sue was a homemaker, an artist and a nature lover. Sue also loved playing softball, tennis, and golf and she loved to fish on vacation.
Surviving are husband Jim Stone, daughter Leslie Swearinger (John), son Jim Stone Jr. (Angie), granddaughters Brandi Lester, Jamie Gray, and Tessa Merkel, and great grandson Duncan Gray and one sister, Ann Schach (Kim). Also surviving are step daughters Marla Stone and Lynda Gates and granddaughter Jenny Pearson.
She is preceded in death by both parents as well as 2 brothers, Gary and Stephen Wilcox.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, with a half hour prior visitation, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo, IL.
