Obituary for Sarah G. Danby

MORTON-Sarah G. Danby, 93, of Quincy and formerly of Morton, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born on January 10, 1917, in Wilmington, DE to Joseph Chandler and Mary Ann Casey Gregg. She married Orill D. Danby on October 4, 1944, in South Mills, NC. He passed away on June 23, 1985, in Tampa, FL. She was also preceded in death by one son, Gregg Carl Danby on July 21, 2006, and one sister, Josephine Cheng. Sarah is survived by one daughter, Lisbeth (Dan) Shannon of Pekin; two grandchildren, Amanda Hopper and Danny Shannon; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Celeste Hopper. She was a Lobbyist for the State of Michigan Medical Society. Sarah was a World War II Navy veteran serving as a Radioman in Communications in Norfolk, VA. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Joseph Church in Pekin, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of Confederacy, Colonial Dames and past President of the Morton Women’s Club. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel, 7519 N. Allen Rd., Peoria 61614, with Rev. James Pankiewicz officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment of ashes will follow in the Mausoleum, where Military Rites will be accorded.
