Obituary for Ruth E. Blaschek
Peoria- Ruth E. Blaschek, 88, of Peoria, passed peacefully away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 12:40 a.m. at OSF St. Clare Home. Born September 7, 1918 in Peoria to Frank and Margaret Harty Akers, she married Leo J. Blaschek on August 19, 1943 in Peoria. He died May 15, 1982 in Peoria. Three brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her one son: Jim (Janice) Blaschek of Orland Park, three grandchildren: Corrine of Irmo, South Carolina, Karissa of Lockport and Jim of Orland Park. Ruth is also survived by a sister in law: Lois Blaschek, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was formerly employed by Peoria Motors and Carson Pirie Scott and Company. Ruth was a member of St. Boniface/ St. Ann Catholic Church, the Damenchor Germania Society, and the St. Patrick’s Society. She was also a member of Methodist Hospital’s Volunteer Services. Ruth’s favorite activity was ballroom dancing, especially enjoying waltzes and polkas. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at her church, the Rev. Terry Cassidy officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. Further visitation will be a half hour prior to the mass on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
