Obituary for Ruth A Sharp

Ruth A. Sharp, 84, of Peoria, passed away on August 20, 2021 at her home.

She was born September 26, 1936 in Bloomington, Illinois to Philip and Vera (Worley) Blair.

Ruth is survived by her son Brian (Jodi) Sharp of Morton, grandchildren Jim (Shelly) Sharp, Brandi (Jon) Haushahn, Lindsey Sharp, Trevor Sharp, Kelsey Antle, Katie Busser,
great-grandchildren Chris Sharp, Abby Sharp, Berkley Haushahn, Ruth Sharp Sheppard, Donnie Sharp Sheppard,
Hayley Haushahn, brother Marvin Blair of Parker, Colorado, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her son Andy Sharp, her sister-in-law Becky Blair, and her grand-son-in-law DJ Sheppard.

Ruth graduated as the valedictorian of Ellsworth High School.
After attending Eureka College, her new focus was raising her two sons Brian and Andy Sharp.

Ruth worked at Peoria Skeet and Trap Club and Iron Workers Local 112.  She returned to school and graduated from Bradley University with a BS in Accounting.  Ruth went to work for Human Service Center and retired as an Accounting Supervisor.  She later worked at Her Majesty’s English Tea Room at Fairchild’s in Dunlap, which she loved.

Ruth loved to travel and particularly enjoyed exploring Ireland.  She treated the family to trips to Saugatuck, Michigan.  Ruth traveled to Parker, Colorado to visit her brother Marvin numerous times with family and always loved the drive up Mt. Evans.  She also looked forward to the annual trip to the Muny in St. Louis with Brian, Jodi, and former daughter-in-law Kathy Carruthers.  Ruth also loved to garden and her home was known as the “Hollyhock House”.  Ruth always looked forward to concerts by the Heartland Symphony Orchestra. Most of all, Ruth loved to spend time with family and always took time to share her fantastic talent at the piano with children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren.

Ruth will be sorely missed, but she will live on in the gifts she shared with everyone who met her.  She always led by example, tried to do the right thing, and sacrificed to make sure those she loved always succeeded.

A special thank you to everyone at OSF Hospice for the wonderful service you provided.

Per her request, Ruth is to be cremated.

There will be a Celebration of Life in her honor on Saturday October 9 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Kelleher’s Irish Pub - 619 SW Water St. Peoria, Il.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the Heartland Festival Orchestra.

Wright-Salmon Funeral Home in Peoria has been entrusted with arrangements.
