Obituary for Roy "Jack" Finney

Peoria- Roy “Jack” Finney, 74, of Peoria, died at 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Proctor Community Hospital. Born October 21, 1933 in Peoria to Roy John and Margaret Scott Finney, he first married Judith Mae Moushon on February 11, 1961 in Peoria. Jack later married Barbara “Bobbie” Nobles on January 29, 1995 in Morton. “Bobbie” survives along with 3 Step Daughters: Valerie (Jim) Kennedy of East Peoria, Karen (Clayton) Bieber of Morton, and Paula Straker of Peoria. 4 Sons: John Finney of Washington, IL., Tom Finney of East Peoria, Randy (Becky) Finney, and Ed (Jamie) Finney, both of Peoria. 7 Grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Terry and Bill. Jack worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways until he retired in 1995. He then owned and operated Finney’s Sports Bar in Peoria with his son Ed. He was a Korean Army Veteran, and was of the Christian Faith. Jack coached baseball for many years in the Deer Creek area. He was a great sport’s fan, rooting for the Cub’s and Bear’s. He loved to play golf. He was a 1951 graduate of Woodruff High School. A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with the Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary, and half hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
