Obituary for Rosemary L. Thomas

PEORIA-Rosemary L. Thomas, 82 of Peoria, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2007 peacefully at home. Born August 15, 1924 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria to Frank and Ellen Cunnane Nussle. She married Edward “Tommy” A. Thomas on April 24, 1946 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Peoria. He survives. Rosemary also left behind one daughter, Diane (James) Hursey of Plano, TX; one son, David (Elizabeth) Thomas of San Antonio TX; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Caryn) Hursey, Jeff Hursey, Jennifer Hursey, Karen Thomas, Christine Thomas, Diane Thomas and Julie Thomas; two great-granddaughters, Sara Hursey and Ann Hursey. She was preceded in death by her parents. She attended St. Mark’s Elementary, the Academy of Our Lady High School and Bradley University. She worked for her father at the Nussle Drug Store and was a secretary at Ozark Airlines. Her greatest joy was raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great-granddaughters grow up. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Her annual trip to Hawaii and travels to other parts of the world were another source of great enjoyment. She had many dogs throughout the years and will be missed by her miniature Schnauzer, Pixie. She was a member Holy Family Catholic Church and the Methodist Arthritis Aquatic Program. Rosemary’s was truly blessed with a wonderful life and her family was truly blessed to have her as their wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Holy Family Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, OSF Hospice, where she received wonderful care or Holy Family Church.
