Obituary for Rose M. (Gerardo) Seghetti

Peoria- Rose Margaret (Gerardo) Seghetti passed away at midnight, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Buehler Home in Peoria.

Rose was born September 30, 1937 in Streator, IL to the late Alphonso and Margaret (Ricca) Gerardo and grew up in nearby Toluca. She married Roger J. Seghetti on August 29, 1959 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Toluca. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2015.

She is survived by three children, Michael (Jeannie) Seghetti, David Seghetti and Kathryn (Daniel) Maloof, all of Peoria. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Anna (Sean) Gettings (great-granddaughter Gettings expected soon) and Margaret Maloof of Chicago, William, Anthony and Gina Seghetti, and Jacob (Cara) Maloof and great-granddaughter Rowan Maloof, all of Peoria; and two sisters: Kathryn Gerardo of Tampa and Anna Mary Gerardo of Peoria.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Frank Gerardo.

Rose graduated from Toluca High School in 1955 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital and for Drs. Paul Roark and Jack O’Brian. In 1967, Rose and Roger opened Red Carpet Car Wash on Jefferson Street and subsequently expanded to two additional locations. Rose continued to work in the office until the age of 82 and remained active in the business until her death. Rose and Roger were long-time supporters of Bradley University and of the Braves Club and were basketball season ticket holders for over 50 years. They enjoyed traveling and during her lifetime, Rose made her way around the world to over 60 countries.

Rose was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, where she served on the board for many years, including president. She also served as a board member of the Fine Arts Society of Peoria, and was a founding member of the picture person program for Peoria Public Schools (through Lakeview Museum).

The family thanks the staff of Buehler Home for their loving care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at church. A private burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Toluca. Mass will be live streamed at stphils.com, click on the YouTube icon.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 4722 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61614.
