Obituary for Ronald G. Vice
Ronald G. Vice, 74, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Ron was born on February 4, 1949 in Mariemont, Ohio, a son of Cecil and Edna (Burton) Vice. He married Jaqueline Judd on June 17, 1978 in Hennepin, IL. She survives, of Peoria. His mother, Edna also survives, of Dunlap. Also surviving are three children, Brad (Jamie) Vice of Hennepin, Drew Vice of Mapleton and Lindsey (Mike) Johnston of Dunlap, four grandchildren, Judd, Lucy, Bailee and Jack, as well as one brother, Bill (Cherie) Vice of Evergreen, CO. He was preceded in death by his father.
Ron proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked for Illinois Bell, then later known as Ameritech/AT&T. He was a co-owner of River Valley Properties.
Ron was an avid runner for many years and long-time runner of the St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Run. He was instrumental in starting the Springfield and St. Louis to Peoria Satellite St. Jude Runs. He was a co-founder of the St. Jude Downhill Derby. Ron enjoyed aviation at Mt. Hawley Airport, fishing of any kind, skiing and Pickleball. He was an avid car racing fan and race car driver who loved and owned vintage sports cars. Ron and Jackie loved to winter with friends at Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, FL. Ron was a man of faith and a member of Northwoods Community Church.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Northwoods Community Church Chapel on Friday, April 28, 2023. Memorial Services will follow at 5:00 PM with Pastor Gary Webb officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ronald's memory may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
