Obituary for Rodney W. Hinchman

PEORIA- Rodney W. Hinchman, 84, of Peoria, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his residence.
Rodney was born November 10, 1927 in Galesburg to Edgar “Ned” and Marjorie (Thomas) Hinchman. He married Genevieve Stenoish on July 28, 1951 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Hinchman of Peoria and David (Trish) Hinchman of Davenport, IA; two daughters, Patricia (Alex) McIntosh of St. Charles, MO and Jo (Matt) Garrison of Dunlap; ten grandchildren, Daniel (Kathleen), Brent (Lauren) and Lauren McIntosh, Jenny Hinchman, Angie (Patrick) Connley, Greg and Jeff Hinchman, and Dylan, Conner and Derek Garrison; one great-grandchild, Fiona McIntosh; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
He was truly loved and will be missed by his family.
Rodney worked for the US Postal Service for 37 years retiring as a supervisor of mail classifications.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #20, Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club, OSF Riverplex, a life member of V.F.W. Post 2078 and Hilton Lodge AF/AM 1143 for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Rodney was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Wright Salmon Mortuary. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
